Choose your setup path
Answer two questions and get the exact setup sequence for your business — what to connect, what happens to your data, and what to do the moment you are live.
Two questions, then your exact setup sequence
Pricemaster is used by two quite different kinds of business, and they set up differently. Tell us which one you are and where your product data lives, and this page assembles the right path — with links to the detailed guide for each step.
Which describes your business?
This is the same question Pricemaster asks when you add a site, and it changes what the app is built around for you.
Where does your product catalogue live?
How do you want to share your catalogue?
Pick the platform that holds your products and prices. Pricemaster reads from it, and — once you switch pushing on — writes new prices back to it.
Brand accounts send us a master product list rather than connecting a storefront. Pick the delivery method that suits your systems.
What every account does, whichever path you take
The connector changes. The shape of the work does not. Every Pricemaster account goes through the same five stages, and the app tracks your progress through them on the setup bar across the top of the dashboard.
Connect a product source
Pricemaster needs your SKUs, your selling prices and — critically — your cost prices. Cost is what makes margin protection possible, so it is worth getting right at the start.
Import your catalogue
The first import runs in the background and can take a while on a large catalogue. When it finishes, Pricemaster sets up a daily import so your data stays current without you doing anything.
Build your market
Retailers pick competitors. Brands pick the retailers stocking their range. Either way, this is the step that decides whether your pricing data is worth trusting, so it deserves real attention.
Set your floors, then your rules
Minimum margins come first and rules come second — in that order. The floor is what stops a rule following a competitor down to an unprofitable price.
Simulate, review, then go live
Simulation shows exactly what a rule would do to every product without touching your storefront. Nothing is written back to your store until pushing is switched on for your account.
Things people ask before they start
Can I change my answer later?
The business type is set per site, not per login, and you choose it again each time you add a site. If you picked the wrong one, ask the Pricemaster team to switch it rather than starting over.
Can I run more than one store?
Yes. Each store is a separate site with its own products, competitors, margins and rules. Use the workspace switcher to move between them, and always check which site is active before changing anything.
What if my platform is not listed?
Use Google Sheets or an FTP/SFTP drop. Both are ordinary CSV feeds, and plenty of accounts run permanently on them rather than as a stopgap.
What if I sell on several channels?
Connect Linnworks. It carries your channels as one catalogue, and Pricemaster can hold pricing context per channel rather than treating everything as a single storefront.
Do I need cost prices to start?
You can start without them, but margin protection cannot work until costs are present. If your platform does not carry cost, you can upload them as a CSV afterwards.
How long does the whole thing take?
Around thirty minutes of your attention. The imports and the first competitor scrape run in the background, so most of the elapsed time is waiting rather than working.
