Import Source Types

What source types are available

  • CSV / spreadsheet upload: best when you receive a file manually.
  • FTP: best when a source file is delivered onto a server path.
  • Google Sheets: best when the source is maintained in a shared live sheet.
Master Vs Sub-Import

How to decide which source does what

Master import

Use this for the main product catalogue source that creates or refreshes the core product records.

Sub-import

Use this for enrichment files that add descriptions, attributes, documents, or other content to products that already exist.

In practice, many teams use one main catalogue source as the master import and then one or more sub-imports for richer content from other suppliers or internal sources.

Mapping Fields

How to map columns correctly

1

Upload or connect the source

Once the file is available, Pricemaster can inspect the column headers.

2

Open the mapping screen

Choose which source column should fill each Pricemaster field.

3

Be careful with identifier fields

SKU, parent SKU, variant title, and attribute mappings are especially important for clean imports and good downstream exports.

4

Run the import and review the result

If the output looks wrong, fix the mapping before repeating the import.

Practical advice: if you are setting up a sub-import, make sure the file includes a reliable product identifier so Pricemaster can enrich the right products instead of creating confusion.
